1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — for example, whether you have already seen our consent banner — making subsequent visits easier and the site more useful.

2. Legal Basis
We use cookies in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the EU ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) as implemented in Spain by Article 22.2 of Law 34/2002 (LSSI-CE), and the equivalent UK regulations (PECR and UK GDPR).
Strictly necessary cookies are placed automatically — they are essential for the Site to function and are exempt from the consent requirement under the ePrivacy Directive.
All other cookies (analytics, performance, marketing) require your prior, informed, and freely given consent under GDPR Article 6(1)(a). You give or withhold consent via the cookie banner shown on your first visit. You can change your choice at any time — see Section 6.
3. Categories of Cookies We Use
3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are required for core site functions such as storing your consent preference so the banner is not shown on every page load. They cannot be disabled via the cookie banner.

3.2 Analytics Cookies (consent required)
These cookies help us understand how visitors use the Site — which pages are visited, how long users stay, and where they came from. The data is aggregated and pseudonymised. Analytics cookies are only set after you actively accept them via the consent banner.

Note: Cookies active on any given visit reflect your consent choice. The GA4 measurement ID in use is G-MZZ6F314GK. [TODO: verify this ID matches the production GA4 property before publishing.] GA4 may also set a _gid cookie (24-hour duration) — confirm with a cookie scanner whether this applies to your implementation.
3.3 Marketing / Advertising Cookies (consent required)
We do not currently use marketing or advertising cookies. No advertising networks, retargeting pixels, or marketing tracking scripts are deployed on espanago.com at this time. If this changes, this Policy will be updated before any such cookie is placed, and your consent will be requested afresh.
4. Google Consent Mode v2
We implement Google Consent Mode v2, which controls how Google Analytics behaves based on your consent choice. This is how it works:

Before you make a choice: analytics cookies are blocked by default (
analytics_storage: denied). Google Analytics operates in a privacy-preserving, cookieless mode — no identifying cookies are set and no full IP addresses are sent. Google may use aggregated, non-identifying signals for statistical modeling only. - If you accept analytics cookies: GA4 begins collecting the usage data described in Section 3.2 above.
- If you decline or close the banner without choosing: analytics cookies remain blocked. Only strictly necessary cookies are set.
- You can change your preference at any time by visiting the Your Data Rights page.
5. Third-Party Services and International Transfers
Analytics cookies are operated by Google Ireland Ltd, which may transfer data to servers in the United States. Such transfers are protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision of July 10, 2023) and/or Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). See Section 7 of our Privacy Policy for full details.
This site links to external services (WhatsApp, Telegram). Following such a link opens the third party in a new tab and is subject to that party's own privacy and cookie policy. We do not embed third-party trackers or social plugins inside our pages without your consent.
6. How to Manage Your Cookie Preferences
You have the right to withdraw or change your analytics consent at any time, without giving a reason, and without affecting the lawfulness of any processing carried out before withdrawal.
Option 1 — Via our preference center
Visit the Your Data Rights page to update your cookie choices per category (strictly necessary / analytics). Your new preference is saved instantly.
Option 2 — Via your browser settings
All major browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies through their settings menus. Note that deleting cookies will also remove your stored consent choice, meaning the banner will reappear on your next visit.

Option 3 — Google Analytics opt-out add-on
You can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent GA4 from collecting data across all websites you visit.
Please note: Blocking strictly necessary cookies (the cookieChoice localStorage key) may affect how the Site functions — for example, the consent banner may reappear on every page load.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when the cookies we use or the providers we work with change, or when applicable law or regulatory guidance is updated. The current version is always available at espanago.com/guide/cookies.html. The revision date is shown at the top of this page. If required by the nature of a change, we will re-present the consent banner for you to review and re-confirm your preferences.
